Sometimes seams like things under your control may lead you to a situation when you need to protect yourself. It doesn’t matter weather you are among friends or somewhere in unfamiliar company. So be aware of the environment you are in all the time. You should be always ready to face some unexpected events.

Keep in mind that most criminals prefer darkness to act in. Night is the most appropriate time for one to become a victim of transgression.

Let’s talk about what has happened to two school friends. Carrie and Ted both studied in a huge southeastern university. They were sophomores. They both were enjoying school life as well. While attending school, they had never seriously thought of dangers. Daily obstacles seamed all right for all students, for the most part of them even seamed great. They felt quite protected in the college setting, especially in campus.

College is always a perfect place to make new acquaintances. These two met plenty of them. They were gladly waiting for becoming seniors and than graduating as well.

The town around the college had become flooded with unruly characters who made it dangerous and desolated. Their presence was an obstacle for new residents to move there for life or to run business. Consequently these troubles spilled over and flooded the college campus. The local government worked out some projects to settle these problems.

So consequently the college organized a party for students. There was a nice music and the area where the party was taking a place was well lit. All seamed Ok, but then suddenly everything went dark. However, nobody really paid attention to this fact at first. Then they heard a patrol car of campus security. It turned out that it had happened a construction accident. So everyone had to go back to his dorm and stay there till everything goes right.

Most students decided to wait till the power is back having their own party outside.

As for Carrie and Ted, they were not that much excited about walking around in darkness. They went back to the campus dormitory. The dark setting made it complicated to find the way back. As they walked in the direction of their dorm, they had to leave behind some bulky hedges.

When they passed, some tattered looking guy jumped from the shadows. He grasped the girl. He and sited a knife to the girl’s throat. She was frightened. The man asked for Ted’s wallet. Suddenly campus security cars appeared and the man ran away. He was seized soon though. But now Carrie and Ted are always aware of dark places and ready to protect themselves anytime.
