Planning a College Party

1. Make a timeline/checklist - It seems simple, though laying out your checklist/timeline is a vital first step in keeping you on track. For any small parties and events, you are able to get away with a 5 week planning window. Though, for great events, particularly those which will need you to arrange committee members, let yourself 3-6 months at least.
2. Select your date/venue - There are many great places to host the college events on campus – function halls, game room, lounges, the college pub, etc – though you will want to verify the campus calendar while deciding on a date to be sure that you do not have many of competing parties taking place at the same time.
3. Make a budget - You should practice the negotiation skills in order to see what types of deals you are able to make. Make sure to approach your college to see whether there are any venders that they utilize frequently to know whether you can get certain price quotes. Also, you can speak with college students in some other organizations to know whether there are discounts local providers offer college students too. When you have the quotes, you should figure out what you are capable to budget and adhere to it!
4. Consider logistics - It is where having your friends and a committee to aid is a good idea. The greater your college party, the more logistics you will need to take into account, including: utilities and lighting, setup (tables, stage, chairs, parking, signage, etc) cleanup, coordination, transportation as well as public services like fire departments and police.
